An excellent education at an affordable price – start here! That’s our message to prospective students of all ages. And more are doing just that this fall: starting their college degrees or career training at Lincoln Land Community College. 

In addition to welcoming more students to LLCC, we began the academic year celebrating several major accomplishments. We were awarded a full,10-year reaffirmation of accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission, confirming that we meet the highest criteria for accreditation and federal compliance. And, due to our solid financial standing, our Board of Trustees approved a tuition freeze for this year, which is great news for students. 

LLCC’s fall enrollment is up 17.9% based on official 10th day figures. This encouraging trend brings us back to almost pre-pandemic levels. Our parking lots are full; student activities are bustling. The data shows:  

• We have 5,238 students taking college-credit classes in their choice of 97 degree and certificate programs on campus, at one of our outreach centers, at high schools, our aviation center, our Medical District location, HSHS St. John’s Hospital or online.
• Additionally, we offer 15 non-credit, short-term career and workforce training programs that prepare students for local jobs in health care and industry. With those students included, our fall enrollment is 5,320. 
• Ninety-three percent of our fall students live in the LLCC district, which includes all or parts of 15 central Illinois counties. This percentage has remained consistent over the past decade. We’re proud that our students live and work in our communities. Through them, our graduates and employees, LLCC has a notable, local economic impact.
• The majority of students are taking classes on campus, with almost half of them taking at least one online class. Twenty-three percent are taking all of their classes online.
• We have 715 dual credit students this fall. These are students who take college-level classes at their high school and receive both LLCC and high school credit. An additional 290 high school students take classes at LLCC locations, giving us more than a thousand dual enrollment students.  
• We welcome students from any age or stage they are in toward a degree or certificate. Our age range of students: 
  • 23% are under 18
  • 52% are 18-24
  • 24% are 25-59
  • 1% are 60 and over

LLCC is educational and informative, but we also have a lot of fun. We’ve welcomed many visitors to campus recently at the Workforce Careers and Ag Expos, SkySoar Fest featuring the latest in drone technologies, Honey Harvest at West Lake Nature Grove apiary and Violins of Hope recital. Coming up in October, we’re inviting the public to an amazing haunted house called “Fear 101,” sponsored by the LLCC Police Department and showing off the talents of our construction and art students. 

If you would like to start or restart on the path to higher education or career training, come to our Open House Monday, Oct. 9, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The free event will be held at our Springfield campus, 5250 Shepherd Rd. Check in at the tent, grab a burger or hot dog, and follow the footprints around campus to speak with faculty and staff, view exhibits and take tours.
