Lincoln Land Community College and the State of Illinois are hosting the first State of Illinois Career Fair for Illinois state agencies on Wednesday, May 1, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The fair will take place in the LLCC Student Union on LLCC’s Springfield campus located at 5250 Shepherd Road. Current LLCC students, alumni and the public are invited to attend. Registration is not required, and both admission and parking are free.

Attendees will have the opportunity to explore career paths in the public sector by talking with representatives from state agencies, learning about training opportunities at LLCC and fostering connections and potential employment opportunities across a diverse range of state government roles.

“Central Management Services has partnered with Lincoln Land Community College to provide agencies the opportunity to meet potential employees and to give job seekers the ability to learn about opportunities that are available,” said John Chepulis, agency recruitment manager with Central Management Services. “We will have in-person employment workshops covering topics related to applying for state positions, state profile creation and other best practices when applying for a career with the state of Illinois.” The workshops will be held from 9:45-10:30 a.m. and then again from 1-1:45 p.m.

“The career fair presents an incredible opportunity for LLCC students to learn about various careers as well as how to navigate the hiring process at the State of Illinois,” said Josh Collins, assistant vice president, business relations. When you look at LLCC programs and job opportunities at the various state agencies, there are job opportunities for nearly all of our students.

“The job fair is a great opportunity for job seekers in the surrounding areas to seek out a new job or even a new career,” said Jason Thoron, recruitment officer at the Illinois Department of Innovation and Technology. “This event will provide access to state agency employers, from a wide variety of fields and professions, who are seeking committed, hardworking and enthusiastic employees to fill available positions.”
